Applications for research grants are open to members of IIA Malaysia. However, topic of the proposed research must be relevant to the Malaysian internal audit practices or internal audit education.

The Research and Technical Advisory Committee (RTAC)

Research Grants will be awarded based on the relevance and timeliness of the topic proposed for research, the likelihood of successful and timely completion of the project and the likelihood of the project leading to findings that can be published and widely disseminated.
1.1 The Researcher is required to submit a progress report once every quarter and/or as and when requested by the RTAC.
1.2 The progress report is a general report, which highlights the work/activities done to date, milestones achieved and expenses incurred.
The Researcher may encounter circumstances requiring modification to the research plan, which may compromise the prime objectives of the research originally approved by IIA Malaysia. In such cases, The Researcher must obtain the prior written consent of the RTAC before the implementation of any changes.
3.1 If the approved starting date and/or completion of the research project is expected to be delayed, prior approval must be obtained from IIA Malaysia for the change of date. The application for the change of date, supported with justification, must be submitted to IIA Malaysia not less than one month of the initial approved starting date and/or completion date, whichever is applicable.
3.2 IIA Malaysia reserves the right to withdraw the research grant if the project’s starting date and/or completion date is delayed more than two months or approval has not been obtained for the delayed starting date and/or completion date.
4.1 The Researcher immediately following the completion of a research project, will submit a research report to IIA Malaysia.
4.2 The research report will be assessed by the RTAC.
4.3 The research report should include the following clause “The findings of this research and any views or opinions presented in this report are solely those of the author(s) and does not reflect the views or opinions of the Institute of Internal Auditors Malaysia.”
4.4 The Researcher may be required to present the findings to the RTAC.
4.5 IIA Malaysia will have the right to publication of all research findings.
4.6 Upon obtaining IIA Malaysia’s consent, all publications arising out of the research must acknowledge the funding provided by IIA Malaysia.
4.7 This agreement expressly prohibits The Researcher to publish research findings in any other publications without prior consent from IIA Malaysia.
5.1 IIA Malaysia reserves the right to revise or amend at any time the conditions of the research grant or suspend or terminate the research grant at any time. This situation may arise if IIA Malaysia is of the view that the research has been unduly delayed or would not be able to achieve the objectives stated in the proposal or has deviated from the objectives stated in the proposal.
5.2 The Researcher must ensure that there is no misconduct e.g. plagiarism, falsification of data
The research grant must be utilised only for the purpose as approved by the RTAC. Funds may only be used to cover direct expenses incurred as approved.
IIA Malaysia shall disburse the said Grant in stages according to the Disbursement Schedule agreed in this Letter of Engagement and details upon confirmation of completed stages of work by The Researcher through progress reports. Payment will be made based on the provided by The Researcher on the Confirmation of Letter of Engagement.
